Here's a very nicely written piece by industry veteran Bill Jenkins. It does a great job of identifying the linkage between truly understanding the insurer/customer relationship and profitability.

If he is the same Bill Jenkins who spoke at ACORD a few years ago he seemed to know his stuff. The picture does not look like the guy I heard speak though.
Bill was well respected as a CIO at Penn National Insurance.
