What is Market Luminary?

Market Luminary is where you'll find unbiased information, reports and reviews about product and service companies in a variety of complex markets. Our “Luminaries” are experts who share their knowledge with our members. Our members share their experiences with each other so that you can choose the company (and the relationship) that's right for your unique needs. 

What is a Luminary?

A Luminary is an expert who shares his or her skills and knowledge with the members of our community through blogs, whitepapers, webinars, podcasts and more . These volunteers donate their time and effort to make our community second to none! They do not directly solicit business, but you are certainly encouraged to find out more about what they do for their “day job”! 

How do I use Market Luminary?

It's easy! Register as a Free Member and get started. You can access our vendor Directory, learn from our Luminaries, and interact with other members. You'll receive ratings and reviews of vendors who've done work for other members, including interesting and important information about quality, timeliness, pricing and professionalism.

If you choose to do business with a Market Luminary vendor, share your feedback and experiences so you can help other members make their important decisions. Your input on any service or product provider will become part of their Market Luminary rating.  

How do product and service professionals receive reviews and scores from Market Luminary?

A professional is reviewed only after a member submits a report and scores about their product or service experience. Companies cannot pay to improve their reviews or scores, nor are they allowed to submit reviews on themselves. Companies are not charged to be listed, but like members, they can pay to receive additional services and benefits. Companies can request that be removed from our community, and we honor those requests.  

What vendors, products and services are rated on Market Luminary?

If they don’t want to be added (and subject to member review) that probably tells you everything you need to know! 

Why would I use Market Luminary when I can just ask industry analysts for recommendations?

You can still ask your favorite analyst for their recommendations and opinions – assuming of course you are paying their fees for access to their experts and reports. But Market Luminary can give you unbiased experience with thousands of companies—and you don’t have to wait for an annual report to be published to find out what’s really happening!

How Are Luminaries chosen?

Our members nominate them! But not just anyone can become a Luminary. We have a rigorous process for approval. We review the recommendation, interview the candidates, validate their credentials, and then decide if they can be a Luminary.

What if I sign up and don't like it?

No problem! Memberships may be cancelled in one of the following ways:

Please include your name, address and phone number in any written cancellation requests so that we can identify your account. 

Your cancellation request must be received no later than 5 pm on the day prior to any scheduled renewal payment date, which can be found on the My Account page. Annual memberships are backed by our  satisfaction guarantee. Sorry, no refunds for monthly memberships. 

Does Market Luminary allow related companies to advertise?

Market Luminary does NOT allow related companies and professionals to advertise. In order to maintain an unbiased relationship with vendors, we do not promote any of their products or services directly. 

Companies who advertise or offer discounts in our communities are not directly related to the products and services reviewed in the community.

Can a vendor company pay to change their rank on Market Luminary?

NO! 

We do offer companies advice and services that can help them to better determine ways         to improve their services, and to address the concerns of their customers. But only better     reviews from our members can improve their ratings.

Will Market Luminary edit the reviews, comments and reports I post?

Market Luminary does not edit reports posted by our members. But we do review them before they post. From time to time we may refuse to post reports or reviews if they violate our Review Policy. Check out our terms and conditions for more.

By checking reports before they're available to other members, we're able to weed out companies who are bending the rules, or self-reporting.

Does Market Luminary remove negative reports?

No!

We remove negative reports if:

  1. The report violates our terms and conditions, or was fraudulently posted
  2. The member who posted the report chooses to remove it.
  3. From time to time we may assist in mediating feedback and complaints if the vendor asks for our assistance. Any mediation would require approval from both the member and the vendor before any changes are made however. 

We never, ever, ever remove a negative report for any other reason. Market Luminary retains a respected auditing firm to check our practices every year to ensure that no preferential treatment is given to anyone.  

Do you have to be a member to submit reviews and reports on Market Luminary?

Yes, and membership is free, so sign up today if you want to submit a review or report.

What is the Market Luminary online content comment policy?

  1. Market Luminary encourages and appreciates comments. The comments we receive on our content, blogs, and articles are important as they provide everyone with the opportunity to contribute.
  2. Market Luminary does not allow anonymous comments. Our content is written to provide value to the Market Luminary community. To maintain our integrity, we don't allow anonymous reports or posts on our blogs. Comments can only be made by registered members. 
  3. We take out the garbage! We want lively and interesting discussions. But garbage is garbage! So don’t spam, don’t self promote, don’t bloviate, don’t swear, and don’t be rude.
  4. We might respectfully disagree. Views expressed by our members or volunteer Luminaries are not necessarily the views of Market Luminary.
  5. Ask questions. The Luminary Staff will reply to questions and comments as quickly as possible.

What is a Credit Card Validation Code?

A credit card validation code is a 3 or 4 digit number printed on your credit card. This number is used as an anti-fraud security feature to help verify that you are in possession of your credit card. For Visa, Discover and MasterCard, the three-digit Credit Card Validation number is printed on the signature panel on the back of the card immediately after the account number. For American Express, the four-digit Credit Card Validation number is printed on the front of the card above the card account number. Market Luminary (or anyone, for that matter) is not allowed to store this information.
